Engelberg is easily accessed by train and car:
By train from Zürich Airport 2 hours; from Basel EuroAirport 2 hours and 20 min. Check out the SBB for timetable and fares. You can buy your ticket online.
By car from Basel (the border), 1.45 hours. Taking the A2 to Stans, then take the stunning mountain road Stans to Engelberg. Roads are very good all the way up to Engelberg, just keep in mind is to bring your snow chains in the winter. If it is snowing heavily, it is hard to get up the mountain without them.
